Account book, 1863-1873.

The account book was kept by Alanson Hinman at the Bannock Boise mines, Idaho City, 1863-64. There is also a record of disbursements of customs money and on account of Revenue Cutters, [1867?], and four pages of accounts with leading firms in Portland, 1867-73.

Alanson Hinman came to the Oregon Country in 1844 and taught school at the Whitman Mission. He later moved to the Willamette Valley, was collector of customs at Astoria, and finally settled in Forest Grove. He was a trustee of Pacific University.
